A Fair Comparison Between PDF and Word

Download PDF ConverterThe mode of communication, which people use varies from person to person, and one of the things affecting it is the document. Considering a definition for the term document, we can say that it is a work of non-fiction writing that is intended to communicate as well as store data or information. Thus, documents are a source to record certain things over time, which could be used later when needed. Documents are more often than not the focus and concern of government and business administration. Whether it is an individual, a group, an organization or an entity, all make use of documents for different purposes. This is the age of computer and technology, and there are two very popular formats used by people across the globe. The two popular formats are PDF or Portable Document Format, and Word. Although, most of us know what these formats are for, but not all of us are efficient in distinguishing them. This is true that they are not similar, but one aspect matching between the formats is that both are used to save data. Sending and accessing content saved in these formats is easy and fast. It might look as if there are too many similarities between the both. However, there are some inherent differences, which computer users must know about. For amateurs to know, the developer of both the formats is different. Adobe Systems is the creator of PDF, whilst DOC is the brainchild of Microsoft. Each firm has as well developed software that can be used for the creation and editing of documents in their respective file formats. This is one big difference between the formats. Another big difference between them is the platform used by each to edit content in a file. DOC files can only be created using Microsoft Word suite, which can be saved in PDF format later if needed. When editing needs to be done a user can re-convert a PDF into a Word file. On the contrary, PDFs are limited in the ability of editing content, since it is a non-editable format in itself. PDF was mainly developed to work as a delivery format that is recognizable by all the platforms.

The biggest difference between DOC and PDF formats can be found in content delivery. When a document is created in DOC format it is less accurate and consistent in comparison to PDF. PDF Conversion Software preserves the layout and content in the converted document the way it is in the source file.
